When it comes to the heavy-hitter on the BBQ, wine can add a ton of flavour to your meal. Steak is best complimented by powerful red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz (Syrah), Merlot or Zinfandel, all of which have the tannins and grip to seal the deal.
For salmon lovers, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are two of your best choices! Chardonnay is a crisp, delicious wine with tantalizing aromas that include peaches, apples, pears and other fruits. This wine goes best with grilled or roasted salmon, and especially compliments rich buttery sauces added to a salmon dish. Sauvignon Blanc is another flavoured white wine boasting natural acidity and a honey, vanilla and pineapple aroma that captures the senses. This wine is beautifully matched with salmon dishes as well. It’s crisp with a dry finish.

For an ideal wine pairing with chicken, you need to get a bit more specific depending on the cut you will be enjoying, as well as how you make the chicken. White or red wines can fit the bill depending on your circumstances. For chicken that is cooked with a light sauce, a Chardonnay with buttery undertones is known to be a solid choice. However, if your meal is a spicy one that includes a red sauce, a gentle, soft Pinot Noir would fit the mould quite nicely.
